Hi! The Husband and I got married in June of 2011. We decided to spend our first year of married life living in a camper and building a house. By building a house, I don't mean we hired a builder and waited for them to call us when the house was done. To save some money we decided to do the bulk of the work ourselves. We hired out the jobs that we were unsure of, like the plumbing, electrical, and mechanical. The rest is left up to us.
All this while running a business. We own a residential design and drafting company. We do custom house plans for people's dream homes and we are so excited to have the opportunity to design and build our own. The design process was a long one for our own house. We went through 4 or 5 different base plans with so many modifications to each that I have lost count. Because we look at house plans all day as part of our job we didn't want something that we see a lot of. We wanted something a bit unique, something that we didn't think we'd get a chance to work on for a client. In the end that's we got, it just took us awhile to get there.
I started this blog to document our journey relocating from the southern end of the province to the northern to build our forever home. I love having a place where I can organize my thoughts and ideas while sharing this experience. I hope you all enjoy reading this blog as much as I enjoy writing it.
